Abstract

Pikamilon - N-nicotinoyl-GABA is a new vasoactive drug with nootropic properties.  It has anti-amnesic activity on two models of amnesia of passive avoidance response, caused by maximum electro shock and scopolamine on mice.  Pikamilon increases exploratory behavior in open field.  In comparison with the known nootropic drugs, pikamilon produces a specific antiamnestic effecy in lower doses, than piracetam, etiracetam, aniracetam.  Effects of deanol, aceglumat, centrophenoxine, and pikamilon, received in the same doses, are similar. But pikamilon is less potent than nicergoline.
