Abstract

Patients with atopic dermatitis are known to experience serious deficiency of protein-bound pyridoxine and nicotinic acid.  The deficit is especially pronounced in alcohol abusers.  At present, these vitamins are not widely used in the treatment of atopic dermatitis.  Meanwhile, pikamilon and the coenzyme form of vitamin B6 (pyridoxal phosphate) are known to produce good therapeutic effect and may contribute to the normalization of blood pyridoxine and nicotinic acid levels in patients with atopic dermatitis.
